Our Pressing Centre

Centre de Pressurage Beurton & Fils

INNOVATIVE EQUIPMENT

The private pressing centre of Champagne Beurton & Fils is one of the largest in the Vallée de la Marne.  In 1893, an exceptional and abundant harvest year in Champagne, the House launched its pressing service with the installation of the first 4000 kg press. Electrified in 1947 by Benjamin’s grandparents, Robert and Yveline Beurton, this press remained in use up until 1960.

Today, there are four pneumatic lateral membrane presses, three 8000 kg presses and one 4000 kg press as well as a vat for the production of red wine. This innovative and modern “High Environmental Quality” certified pressing centre is also equipped with a vat house with the capacity of approximately 1200 hl.

The harvest

The date of the harvest is determined from an analysis of grape samples taken 4 to 6 weeks earlier, with a goal of obtaining a perfect balance between the rich sugar content and the natural level of acidity. Healthy, perfectly ripe grapes are what enable us to produce such high-quality wines.

During September, the harvest is the crowning moment, the reward for a whole year’s worth of passionate, but hard and strenuous work.  For ten days or so, a large family of faithful grape pickers is reunited, loyal harvesters who have always enjoyed our hospitality.

Thus, every year, around 40 people from various backgrounds, carefully select and pick the bunches of grapes, which are then immediately taken to the Champagne Beurton & Fils pressing centre.
